Roger Wright is Chief Executive of Aldeburgh Music. He is the former Controller of BBC Radio 3 and the former Director of the BBC Proms. It was under Roger Wright’s custodianship that jazz and world music made serious inroads into the Radio 3 schedule and the Proms menu.
In conversation with Jeremy Summerly, Roger Wright will be asked to speak informally about his life in music, first as a schoolboy cellist at Chetham’s School of Music, then as a music student at London University, and subsequently in a variety of roles at the British Music Information Centre, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, and at the recording label Deutsche Grammophon.
Roger Wright is a charismatic figure in British arts administration and is passionate about his current role in Aldeburgh. The conversation will culminate in questions from the floor.
