This concert of Mendelssohn’s greatest music from the 1840s marks a significant opening night in Mayfield Festival’s history. The Tunbridge Wells International Music Competition’s 2016 winner – the New Zealander Amalia Hall – plays the world’s best-loved violin concerto. And the Festival Choir joins forces with Primavera for a performance of Mendelssohn’s Choral Symphony, the Lobgesang (‘Song of Praise’). The three vocal soloists are Josephine Baker Scholars from the Royal College of Music – you heard them here first.
