C J (Jonty) Driver and Isobel Dixon
Jonty Driver, South African born former Headmaster Berkhamsted School and Master at Sevenoaks School and Wellington College, Hon. Senior Lecturer at the School of Literature and Creative Writing, University of East Anglia, has published seven collections of poems, five novels and three biographies. In 1964 he was detained in solitary confinement by the South African security police on suspicion of his involvement with the African Resistance Movement. After being released he came to England and was unable to return until 1992. Many of his poems are inspired by his experiences in South Africa, his exile and his return.
Isobel Dixon’s debut “Weather Eye” won the Olive Schreiner Prize in her native South Africa. She studied in Edinburgh and now works in London. Her fourth collection “Bearings” is published by Nine Arches.
